Feeling overwhelmed with the wedding planning process altogether and on top of that you have to find a wedding dress….that you’ve NEVER for shopped in your life? Well here are three easy ways to feel like a pro walking in your first bridal dress shopping experience. As a bride myself in 2023 and a business owner since 2014 I not only have seen both sides first hand, but I’m here to help guide you along the way. These three easy steps will make your wedding dress shopping, experience exceptional, unforgettable, and so worth your time!!
Tip #1 - Research
Do a little research and what I mean by this not only Google “wedding dress boutiques near me” but look on Pinterest or Instagram to see what style of dresses you are gravitating towards. I recommend screen shooting or creating a Pinterest board have all your pictures in the same place. From there, go onto the bridal shops website to see if they have dresses that are similar to what you’ve been pinning. If yes, then book that appointment. Now you may be thinking...
"Kirsten, what if I don’t even know where to start or what style I like?” This brings me to tip # 2.
Tip #2 - Give Yourself Grace & an Open Mind
We are our harshest critics on ourselves. That is why being open minded is important. We might not have the current wedding body we want yet, or we might not look good in certain dresses. But try it on ANYWAY. Who knows… Everything looks different on a hanger. I ended up going wearing a fit and flare dress instead of ball gown. I recommend trying on different silhouettes (ball gown, fit and flare a-line etc) with an open mind. From there you can gauge what style looks best on your body type.
Tip #3 - Bridal Tribe
Lastly this can make or break the experience..is by bringing the right people to your appointment. I recommend bringing no more than 2 to 4 guests. These are your ride or die group of friends, your cheerleaders in life. Too many opinions can become stressful and overwhelming.
